Assessments may be done for a number of reasons.

It can assist other professionals such as developmental pediatricians, doctors, and/or therapists in arriving at a more accurate and comprehensive diagnosis of the patient.


It can help schools and teachers understand their students better and resultantly, come up with better and more creative learning strategies.


It can help parents and family members understand what is happening to the affected person and how they can work together to find solutions.


It can help individuals understand themselves.

THERAPY

WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY /                         TALK THERAPY?

Psychotherapy or talk therapy refers to treatments that can help individuals who are struggling with emotional difficulties, life challenges, and mental health concerns. Psychotherapy can help in managing troubling symptoms so an individual can function better and increase well-being.

WHAT CAN THERAPY DO FOR ME?

Psychotherapy has been shown to improve emotions and behaviors that bring about positive changes, such as fewer medical problems, a healthier sense of self, better relationships with others, and increased work satisfaction.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THERAPY?

Have you been feeling a decrease in your quality of  life? Do you feel that your issues are negatively affecting how you function with regard to studies/work or with your relationships?
Consider therapy when something causes you distress and interferes with some part of your life. Therapy may additionally help if you are experiencing fatigue, disproportionate anger, anxious or intrusive thoughts, loss of motivation, hopelessness, a strong need to isolate or hurt yourself, or any feelings that are just too overwhelming,

WHY SHOULD I GO TO THERAPY?

Working through challenges is not easy and therapy is not a quick fix. If you are, however, willing to put in the work, therapy can be rewarding. Learning more about yourself can help you achieve your goals and have more fulfilling relationships, leading to improved well-being. It is a safe, judgment-free space where you can share anything, with a trained and licensed professional who is there to help.

HOW LONG DOES A SESSION USUALLY LAST?

The initial or intake session typically lasts between 1-1.5 hours. Subsequent sessions are typically held once a week or once every two weeks for about 1 hour per session. Psychotherapy can be short-term (few sessions), dealing with immediate issues, or long-term (months), dealing with longstanding and complex issues. The individual and therapist will jointly plan the goals of treatment and arrangements for how often to meet.
